The Cybermen have been hiding away for thousands of years. Again. Now, after all this time, they're back and stronger than ever with a new design. Again.
The Doctor and Tim land on an abandoned Asco shopping centre near where locals claim the corner of the universe can be found after receiving a distress signal. The Doctor reveals that the corner of the universe is in fact a very, very large black Cyberman ship.
A smaller ship of theirs breaks into the shopping centre and the Cybermen steal the TARDIS with Martin the Pug inside. The Doctor realises that the Cybermen, after sleeping for thousands of years (again), have updated their design to a previous version, essentially meaning they're doomed to loop through designs forever (or as The Doctor calls it: "Circular Evolution"). The Cybermen leave The Doctor and Tim at Asco.
The Doctor builds a space bike from left over bits and pieces found around the abandoned Asco. They fly into the enormous black ship to find Martin has already been converted into a Cyberpug. Luckily, The Doctor uses some sausages he found in Asco earlier to lure Martin out of his suit. Martin's love for sausages spreads to the Cybermen, and they are left searching the cosmos for the nearest butchers they can find.
The Doctor is able to make a space bike on demand. He also reveals to Tim the vision he saw in Mortal Pomposity, although he doesn't give the full story.
Tim is already growing tired of this Doctor's antics, and marvels that most days are supposed to be like this.
Martin is converted into a Cyber Pug after being found by the Cybermen in The Doctor's TARDIS. Luckily, he is able to break out of his shell after The Doctor tempts him with a sausage.
The Doctor confirms that the TARDIS has sentience, and reveals that the time machine has the personality of a "stubborn old bat". The Cybermen attempt to convert it into a Cyber TARDIS.
It is revealed that due to them redesigning so often, The Cybermen have developed an artificial circular evolution, doomed to repeat the same cycle. Because of Martin's intervention, the entire legion of Cybermen now roam the universe in search of nothing but sausages.
